month by the 4th annual Murder Goes South. (to begin

The
fourth annual Murder Goes South Southern mystery writer's
festival will held January 20-21, 2006.
Dinner
on Friday night will feature Mary Kay Andrews (a.k.a. Kay
Trocheck) as the speaker. She is the author of Savannah
Breeze, Hissy Fit, Savannah Blues and Little
Bitty Lies.
Saturday's
program will include a wonderful panel of extraordinary writers
of Southern mystery.

Spies
of the Revolutionary War

Larry
Guzy, founding president of the John Collins Chapter, Sons
of the American Revolution, in Cobb County, will be the guest
speaker at FOSL's Third Thursday speakers program.
Mr Guzy, to be dressed in authentic period attire, will recount
the efforts and accomplishments of spies and their impact
on the American Revolution.
Join us
for what will be a lively, entertaining and informative Spies
of the Revolutionary War presentation that will be enjoyed
by all.

Gardening
with Heirloom Seeds

Lynn Coulter,
the author of Gardening with Heirloom Seeds, will be
the guest speaker at FOSL's Third Thursday program.
Ms. Coulter will give an entertaining and thorough explanation
on gardening with heirloom seeds, explain how she became interested
in this unique form of horticulture, distribute complementary
seeds to the attendees and autograph books afterwards.

50 Reflections on Living Well

The Friends
of Smyrna Library has announced its featured guest for its
August Third Thursday program. Heather Ivestor, originally
from Smyrna and now living in Carrollton, Georgia, will discuss
her writings and the influences for her latest book, "From
a Daughter's Heart to Her Mom; 50 Reflections on Living Well."
The event takes place Thursday, August 17 at 7:30 pm at the
Smyrna Library in the downstairs meeting room at 100 Village
Green Circle in the Smyrna Village.
"We
are grateful that Heather will come back to Smyrna to spend
an evening with us reflecting on her latest book," stated
Linda Evans, president of the Friends of Smyrna Library organization.
"One of the themes she will discuss will be the importance
of the written word and the role it plays in collecting memories
and sharing reflections across different generations. We expect
it to be a thought-provoking discussion."

us for a discussion of Tea with Sister Anna: A Paris Journal,
with Rome, Georgia author Susan Gilbert Harvey.
Ms. Harvey will describe how the city of Paris became a catalyst
for communion between two Georgia artists: herself and her
great-aunt, Anna McNulty Lester who lived between 1862 and
1900.
You will enjoy her explanation of how she explored the back
streets of Montparnasse in 1998 asking questions to uncover
the mysteries of her great aunt's life in Paris and how the
answers became an award-winning book!
